SA Laser State Championships - 28th-29th November 2009

The 2009-10 Laser State Championships were held at the Adelaide Sailing Club on Sat 28^th and Sun 29^th November and were unfortunately severely affected by weather.  A strong low pressure system passed under South Australia on Saturday morning, creating gale force westerly winds (30+knots) and 2-3 metre seas, meaning no racing was possible on the day.  With four races scheduled for Saturday, this put a big dent in the schedule of the championships, and the decision was made to postpone the Saturday races to a date (yet to be determined) and to proceed with Sunday’s racing as scheduled, weather permitting.

Competitors backing up on Sunday were greeted with a slightly reduced breeze (15-25knots), with the 2-3 metres waves still present and the course littered with seaweed stirred up from the storm.  Three races were completed and with the wind nudging into the 25-30 knot range late in the day there were some very tired bodies hitting the shore after racing.  All results can be found via the links below and stay tuned for when heats 1-4 will be rescheduled.
